'Gardens are for people and personalities, it is this that drives a design more than anything else, making each composition unique’

 

David Stevens FSGD, FI Hort is one of the best known designers in the world. He originally trained as a landscape architect and went on to be offered the first Chair of Garden Design at Middlesex University.

 

David designs gardens in all parts of the globe from expansive estates to tiny backyards. The garden setting may be large or small, in the country or enclosed by city walls, each is unique and each deserves the same attention to detail.

 

Twenty six medals and three best garden in show awards at the Chelsea Flower Show, have ensured his success, eleven of these medals have been gold. He has won three gold medals at the Hampton Court International Flower Show and Best Garden in Show Awards at Shizuoka and Hamamatsu in Japan. He has also won awards in South Africa and Australia.

 

Author of twenty one books on landscape and garden design as well as contributing to a wide range of publications at home and abroad.

 

He at present teaches at the prestigious KLC Design College in Chelsea and and at the superb Filoli Gardens in California

 

He pioneered garden design on television with his acclaimed series ‘Gardens by Design’ for the BBC, followed by an equally popular series ‘Gardenwise’ He has and continues to broadcast around the world.

 

All of these achievements convey great competence, but in reality David is a gifted gardener, never happier when at his drawing board or helping implement a scheme in any weather. Design is about creativity and practicality, David will offer you these in equal measure.
